This summer, Creative City was home to not one but two summer camps. Branching Out and Super Kids. Branching Out is a literacy based program which offers students a chance develop and sharpen their readings skills. We also offer Branching Out throughout the school year as an after school program.
In the same vein, Super Kids, a camp sponsored through Parks and People, was also housed in our building with a focus on reading. You can read about Super Kids in the article linked below. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/education/bs-md-summer-school-program-20170726-story.html ![]() Congratulations to Creative City Public Charter School for winning the Reader's Choice Award for Best Charter School! See other winners by clicking the link below. http://baltimoreschild.com/2017/07/26/here-are-our-readers-choice-winners/ This week we welcome Mr. Oba Joyner from the Holistic Life Foundation as a full-time member of our team. Oba has been working with our after-school program, Branching Out, since the beginning of the school year thanks to funding through MSDE's 21st Century Community Learning Centers program, and will now be with us each school day. Oba is transforming Room 201 into our Mindful Moments room, where individual students, small groups, or even entire classes will work with him to learn mindfulness techniques that will help students become more successful in all parts of their day. We are absolutely thrilled with this new addition to our school and our team. To learn more about what Holistic Life has been doing in other Baltimore City schools, click here.
Our new cub scout pack launched in October. Scouts have already attended a pow-wow together and just had their first pack meeting! Interested in getting involved? Contact Chanei Clemons at [email protected]. The pack is seeking more boys to join AS WELL AS a few other adult leaders.
Join us for a Back to School Pop-Up Play Date from 3:00 – 5:00pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016. See old friends and make some new ones; all new and returning families welcome. We are meeting at Druid Hill Park, one of our great community gems in Park Heights, and we’ll post back with the specific meet-up location shortly (it will be one of the playgrounds). We can’t wait to see you!
(If you are planning on donating school supplies and this is a convenient time to bring them, we can receive them during the play date. However, no requirement, and you can just bring yourselves!) |
