Back-to-School Playdate 8/27/16

Join us for a Back to School Pop-Up Play Date from 3:00 – 5:00pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016.  See old friends and make some new ones; all new and returning families welcome. We are meeting at Druid Hill Park, one of our great community gems in Park Heights, and we’ll post back with the specific meet-up location shortly (it will be one of the playgrounds). We can’t wait to see you!

(If you are planning on donating school supplies and this is a convenient time to bring them, we can receive them during the play date. However, no requirement, and you can just bring yourselves!)

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are very important to us at Creative City!

Current volunteer needs include:

  • Front Desk Support – answer phones and greet guests during our Secretary’s lunch break ( roughly 11:45 – 12:30 daily) and on occasional days when she is not at work.  Front Desk volunteers should have comfort on the phone and enjoy working with people!
  • Data Entry / Administrative Support – help in our enrollment office to process lottery applications (data entry), create flyers for events, and help with light phone calling or other work.  Volunteers should be very comfortable working on the computer and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Student Outreach – help spread the word about opportunities with our school by distributing literature to area businesses and organizations, staffing tables at outreach events, or doing other community outreach activities
  • Special Projects – help with occasional special projects including sorting coats and hats during coat swap, sorting food during food drive, collecting & sorting used books for redistribution, etc.
  • Join a Committee! – in addition to the work above, many active committees support Creative City’s work on an ongoing basis.  Committees include:
      • Facilities (including work with our Outdoor Classroom, Farm & Garden)
      • Fundraising
      • Climate & Attendance
      • Teaching & Learning
      • … and more

We also welcome and value classroom volunteers. To volunteer in a classroom, please initiate a conversation with your child’s classroom teacher.  If you do not have a child here at school and would like to inquire about volunteering in a classroom, please use the contact information below.

All repeat volunteers who work directly with students will be required to undergo a background check.

To inquire about volunteering or joining a committee, contact Marisa Canino at MCanino@bcps.k12.md.us or 443-642-3602.

DONATE

You can help support Creative City Public Charter School’s mission!

Your tax-deductible contribution to Creative City Public Charter School supports an innovative educational model that connects students to Baltimore City and to nature through art, hands-on learning, and participation in a diverse & cooperative school community.

We are a young school and still growing. The amount of funding we receive from the school district per student is supplemented by private fundraising to allow our unique model to come to life. Your support makes a difference today to provide field trips, artists-in-residence, and other programs and opportunities.

Gifts of any size make a difference. For instance:

$250 rents a school bus for a field trip
$100 supports a visiting artist in delivering one arts-integrated classroom lesson
$75 buys a document camera for a classroom
$50 provides our Culinary Lab with raw ingredients for one month
$25 buys a set of 6 independent reading books
$10 replenishes dry erase markers for one classroom
